Double Sided vs Single Sided

The easy question to answer is “Why over the years have business cards not been printed double sided?”  The printing industry has come a long way. There are so many forms of printing. Offset lithography, letterpress, thermography, silk-screening, flexography, gravure and last, but not least digital – The most common form of printing today.  We can discuss the types of printing at a later date.  Prior to the digital press, maintaining printing machines and inks were very expensive. 25 years ago, printed brochures and such items that you see today weren’t readily available for you to grab because of the high costs; which means printing double sided business cards was also very expensive. Printing double sides consists of running the sheet of paper through the printer an additional time and the use of more ink.  The advancement in technology and the lower costs for printing digitally has really changed the industry.  People are willing to spend the money to print business materials simply because of the lower cost to print digitally.
